    2010 - 2011

The amount charged for care depends on both the category of care which is being received and a financial assessment performed by the council. The financial assessment will be performed by a social worker and will look at various different sources of income and capital. They will use this information to produce a contract which will outline what the council will pay and what you will have to contribute.

    Paying Fees

The weekly room rate will be divided into two amounts. One amount will be paid for by the council and the other will be paid by the resident or their appointee. The council will be directly billed for their portion of the fees and the person who receives the resident's pension will be responsible for paying their portion.

    Billing

Our billing period works on a four weekly cycle. There is 13 of these periods in each year.

You will receive your first invoice dated from the first night the resident came into the home until the end of that billing period. The rate charge will be based on the total number of nights in that period. The invoice is usually produced in the middle of the care period, and payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date.

Until there is a contract produced by the council and sent to us we will charge you based on an estimate rate, which is usually the minimum contribution for the standard of care. Once we have received the contract from the council we will then backdate any changes as required by the contract.

Fees can be paid by cash, cheque or standing order. If you wish to pay your fees by standing order we will produce a standing order mandate for you to take to your bank to action.

    Personal Allowance

The personal allowance is an amount of money which the council will set aside in it financial assessment. This money is to be only used for the personal needs of the resident (toiletries, treats, cigarettes etc) and should not be used to pay care home fees.

A personal allowance account will be set up when you first move in and you will be asked what you would like use to help you purchase with your allowance. If you are going to be a long term resident we would request a float of £50.00 in your account. Once the balances reduces we would request that you top it up.

An example of this is used would be that you would like us to purchase your toiletries for you. We will order the items you select and pay for them through our supplier, we then add this to your PA account.
